Join us as we work together to build a better, brighter future for Johnson County residents.

Why we need Let’s Go JOCO

Under the leadership of County Commission Chairman Mike Kelly, Johnson County government has experienced a concerning trend of divisiveness and hyper-partisanship.

With an agenda seemingly dictated by his own preferences, Kelly's approach has been characterized by a "my way or the highway" mentality, sidelining constructive dialogue and collaboration.

Such leadership falls short of representing the diverse needs and interests of Johnson Countians, who deserve a government that prioritizes their well-being and works towards making living in Johnson County more accessible and affordable for all residents.

Achieving Affordability

Lowering property taxes in Johnson County is imperative as it eases the financial strain on its residents, encourages economic development, and enhances the county's appeal to potential businesses.

This reduction not only benefits homeowners by making property ownership more affordable but also bolsters local businesses through increased consumer spending. Moreover, by lowering property taxes, the risk of displacement for low-income families and seniors with fixed incomes is mitigated, ensuring community stability.

The overdue tax break for hardworking Johnson Countians promises much-needed relief and acknowledges their contributions to the county's prosperity. It's a step towards fostering a more equitable and thriving community for all.

Fighting Crime

Having a county government that supports law enforcement is important because it helps maintain public safety, reduces crime rates, and ensures that our community feels secure.

When law enforcement agencies receive strong support from local governments, they can effectively enforce laws, respond to emergencies, and protect citizens from various threats.

Electing a tough-on-crime district attorney and sheriff is crucial as they play significant roles in prosecuting criminals, implementing effective crime prevention strategies, and ensuring justice is served.

Especially concerning is the rise of fentanyl-related crimes, emphasizing the importance of law enforcement leaders who are proactive in combating the distribution and abuse of such dangerous substances, safeguarding communities from the devastating impact of this opioid crisis.

Community Focused Development

Ensuring neighborhoods retain their integrity relies on implementing careful zoning regulations that prioritize the preservation of their distinct character and appeal. By promoting businesses that align with residents' preferences, economic prosperity can be fostered without compromising the neighborhood's identity.

Zoning considerations should prioritize enhancing the quality of life for all residents, rather than catering to wealthy special interests. Limiting the construction of out-of-place multi-family units is essential for preserving the integrity of preexisting communities.

While there are suitable locations for new developments, including multi-family units, finding the right balance in zoning decisions is crucial for fostering a strong sense of belonging and pride within the community.
